- New Vision V concept revealed
- Unveiled by Mercedes-Benz Vans
- Fully-electric V Class replacement
- Promises a ‘new era’ for top-end MPVs
Here’s your first glimpse at a stunning new MPV from Mercedes-Benz - the mobile party lounge that is the Vision V concept.
Your typical people mover, this ain’t.
The sleek, fully-electric Vision V is described as an ‘immersive lounge’ that comes complete with a retractable 65-inch cinema screen, a surround-sound system with 42 speakers and seven projectors, and the option of enjoying karaoke while on the move.
It’s slated for a proper launch in 2026 and looks set to replace the existing EQV and V Class models.
And while full details are still to be revealed, it’s expected to get a range of up to 311 miles between charges.
Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer, Mercedes-Benz Group AG, said: “The Mercedes-Benz Vans have been iconic for decades. With the Vision V we take that heritage and transform it into a completely new context of highest luxury transportation. This show car embodies the perfect harmony between luxury and van design, setting a new benchmark for the future.”
The Vision V concept sits on the German firm’s new Van Electric Architecture (VAN.EA) which will ultimately also underpin vans like the eSprinter and eVito.
High-end luxury is the order of the day.
A ‘private lounge’ is separated from the driver’s areas via a switchable glass panel that goes from transparent to opaque at the touch of a button.
The interior is clad in white Nappa leather, white silk, burr wood panelling, and polished aluminium strips. There are fold-out tables, gaming controllers, integrated display cabinets, and seats that resemble what you’d find on a first-class airline trip.
The 4K, 65-inch cinema screen is hidden under the floor and rises up once the doors are closed. The side windows even become additional ‘screens’ (via projectors) and create a cocooning ‘digital 360-degree experience’.
A Mercedes-Benz spokesperson adds: “While driving, sing your favourite song and feel like you're in a karaoke bar? This is possible at any time in the Vision V.”
The exterior silhouette is much more svelte than you get with the current EQV or V Class while a new chrome radiator grille boasts illuminated glass louvres. The 24-inch wheels also feature illuminated louvres.
There’s no word on cost just yet, but you can expect the V to be just as pricey as the £95,000 hybrid Lexus LM.
