If you’re looking to lease a hot-SUV from Mercedes-Benz’ performance AMG division, read on - because there’s a new update for the AMG GLA and GLB.
The Mercedes-AMG GLA 4MATIC and GLB 4MATIC belong to AMG’s group of ‘35’ named models, which all get a turbocharged 2.0 litre engine and come with power of 310 PS.
It’s the same engine that you’ll find in the Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC hatchback.
And while the AMG GLA and the AMG GLB share the same platform, they make for very different leasing propositions.
The GLB is your typical boxy SUV (above), while the GLA (below) gets a more low-slung, sleeker and more coupe-like appearance.
The GLB also gives you the option of having a third row of seats in the back, turning it into a sport seven-seater.
Whichever one you choose to lease, you can now expect it to come with the addition of 48 volt mild-hybrid power for the first time.
The electrified tech brings a temporary power boost of 14 PS when you put your right foot down, and also means greater efficiency and seamless coasting. The stop-start function should also be barely noticeable.
The GLA and GLB both get a new front apron design, a new headlight signature, LED lights at the rear, and the GLA wheel arch extensions are now painted in the same colour as the vehicle.
An AMG performance steering wheel now comes as standard.
Inside the cabin you can expect the top-spec Mercedes-Benz MBUX infotainment system with a twin screen display and full phone connectivity, and even mini games to play while you’re waiting for your take-out.
And with that 2.0 litre engine providing 400 Nm of peak torque, the AMG GLA can sprint from 0-62 mph in 5.2 seconds, while the GLB takes a shade longer at 5.5 seconds to get up to the same speed.
You can lease both AMG models with Select Car Leasing.
