A new electric supercar from Lexus is in the works - the Electrified Sport - and here it is in all its glory.
Lexus hasn’t really had a supercar since the £800,000, super-exclusive, V10-powered LFA of the early Noughties.
But the Electrified Sport could well give the LFA a run for its money, if we’re to believe what the good people at Lexus are telling us about it.
While the Japanese firm is keeping quiet about what powers the Electrified Sport, they say the sleek-looking EV can accelerate from 0-62mph in ‘around two seconds’.
A Lexus spokesperson adds:
“The Electrified Sport represents Lexus’s vision for a future halo sports car with a battery electric drivetrain.
“It captures the company’s intention to build electrified cars with an authentic performance dimension.
“Its sweeping lines – establishing a new Lexus BEV identity, inspired by the speed and smoothness of aerobatics – are matched by its power.”
Whatever angle you view it from, the Electrified Sport certainly looks the part.
Meanwhile there’s lots of other stuff going on in the Lexus electrified division.
Speaking to the media in Brussels, Belgium, Lexus confirmed that while fully-electric vehicles are the future, for the time being they’re still committed to hybrid electric and plug-in hybrid electric cars also.
That means you should still be able to enjoy lease vehicles like the UX compact hybrid or the NX plug-in hybrid for the foreseeable future.
Meanwhile the incoming, all-electric RZ 450e SUV (pictured below) looks like it could be one of the most efficient EVs we’ve ever seen - being able to travel 3.7 miles per kWh of electricity and having a range of up to 273 miles.
