Kia teases upcoming new EV6 all-electric SUV

Say hello to the new Kia EV6 - the first dedicated EV from the brand, and another challenger to Tesla.

The futuristic-looking EV6 is due to be properly unveiled later this month, but these first-look snaps give lease customers a glimpse at what they could enjoy.

It is a coupe-like SUV crossover that sits on Kia’s first dedicated EV platform - known as the E-GMP.

While details of power are yet to be properly unveiled, Hyundai also uses the E-GMP platform, and their offerings come with either a 58kWh or 72.6kWh battery, so you’re likely to see something similar.

And that’s a good thing - the upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 5 has an electric-range close to 300 miles and considerable performance, too, accelerating from 0-62mph in 5.2 seconds.

When it comes to the whole concept of the EV6, it’s fair to say that Kia has thrown the dictionary at it. The official blurb speaks of a philosophy centred on five ‘pillars’ - ‘Bold for Nature’, ‘Joy for Reason’, ‘Power to Progress’, ‘Technology for Life’, and ‘Tension for Serenity’.

To cut a long story short, the EV6 takes its inspiration from the contrasts found in nature and humanity.

What does all of that actually mean in real-world terms? Well, at the front you get characteristic daytime running lights, a ‘Digital Tiger Face’ grille, a low air intake that visually widens the front of the car, and a flat floor for optimum aerodynamics.

The side profile, Kia says, is ‘modern, sleek and aerodynamic’, while a swept-back windshield provides ‘dynamism and purpose’. Rear haunches also add a touch of muscle, too.

Step inside the EV6 and you’ll find increased space compared to previous Kia EVs based on existing model architecture. There’s a seamless, high-tech, curved, high-definition audio visual and navigation (AVN) screen as well as a slim dashboard to ‘give the space an open feel’.

As with a lot of EVs, physical buttons have been ditched in favour of haptic touchpads, to create an ‘uncluttered and soothing driving experience’.

Meanwhile the seats are slim and lightweight and made from eco-friendly fabrics created using recycled plastics.

EV6 will make its world premiere later this month, and we’ll bring you more information when we have it.

I would definitely recommend Select Car Leasing. They have been very helpful and efficient during the whole process. They always called me back and the online portal to track your order is very useful.
