Rapid Jeep Wagoneer S to arrive next year

Jeep has revealed that its incoming Wagoneer S - the fastest-accelerating Jeep in history - will arrive in the UK in 2025.

We first caught sight of the fully-electric, all-wheel drive SUV earlier this year but it’s making its debut here as a full production model.

And there’s plenty to get excited about ahead of its launch next year.

First up is the power - all 600 hp of it, along with 800 Nm of torque - which means the Wagoneer S is capable of accelerating from 0-62 mph in just 3.4 seconds.

That’s only 0.1 of a second slower than the £200,000 Aston Martin DBX707 or the range-topping electric Porsche Macan Turbo.

Jeep is also making no secret of the fact that the Wagoneer S will be going up against the potent Tesla Model Y Performance - as you can see from the video below.

Yet, despite all of that oomph, the Jeep Wagoneer S will also have a range of up to 300 miles between charges, largely thanks to some aerodynamic wizardry along with a large 100 kWh battery.

And - because it’s a Jeep - the Wagoneer S will also be able to tackle tough terrain, with a spokesperson explaining: “Impressive performance credentials paired with the Jeep brand-exclusive Selec-Terrain traction management system means the Jeep Wagoneer S instils driving confidence and traction for all weather and road conditions.”

Style wish, the seven-slot Jeep grille is illuminated to deliver a ‘distinguishable appearance even miles down the road’, says Jeep.

There’s a sloping, curved roofline that’s been designed to improve performance and efficiency at high speeds as well as a spoiler at the rear.

Meanwhile Jeep is promising a ‘best in class’ interior, with the cabin awash with soft-touch materials.

There’s a huge 45-inch display that spans the width of the dash, with a 12.3-inch centre screen acting as the focal point. The performance-inspired, flat-bottomed steering wheel has fancy wine-red stitching. And the start button is surrounded by a die-cast zinc metal marked with a ‘navigational haptic textured’ pattern.

There’s even a swanky sound system from audio specialists McIntosh, which comes with 19 speakers, a 1,160-watt amp and a 12-inch subwoofer.

Jeep has fitted its Wagoneer S with no less than 170 safety and security features as standard, and that list includes Active Driving Assist, Intersection Collision Assist, Drowsy Driver Detection, Traffic Sign Recognition and a Surround View camera.

Antonio Filosa, Jeep brand CEO, says: “The launch of the all-electric Jeep Wagoneer S marks a new chapter in the storied history of the Jeep brand. Building upon nearly a century of innovation and design, this first global BEV will introduce a whole new generation of owners to an experience that is distinctly Jeep and 100% electric in every way. With new energy in the Jeep vehicle lineup, ranging from EV to V8, customers have never had more freedom to choose their own adventure.”
