Jaguar is making ready its new, highly anticipated fully electric car coming in 2018 - the I-Pace Concept.
Land Rover sub brand Jaguar is bringing its first fully electric car, the i-Pace to the market next year with the new car joining as the sixth model in the Jaguar line-up. The I-Pace was first previewed at the LA Motor Show last year in November and that was followed up by a release at the Geneva Motor Show. The I-Pace is the Jaguar model answering to zero emission vehicle technology with its main rivals being the new Tesla and BMW i models.
What is the i-Pace Concept?
The I-Pace is a five-seater electric sports car that drives fast, looks good and offers great space, and will be coming to the UK in 2018.
Design and styling
Dimension wise - the -Pace is 4680mm long and 1890mm wide which means 66mm smaller than the similarly designed F-Pace model. There will also be a 530 litre-boot space which is quite decent and spacious in comparison to the I-Paces rivals. The front side of the car is instantly recognisable as a Jaguar - It boasts a sporty shape with flush door handles, aerodynamic bonnet scoop and bold air ducts which give a more aggressive look.
The interior initially looks very sporty, luxurious and has a longer wheelbase which means more space inside. The dashboard is flanked by three screens - a 12-inch HD screen to display instruments, another 12-inch touchscreen on the floating centre console and a smaller 5.5-inch touchscreen below.
Performance
Fast, spacious and drives up to 310 miles on a single charge.
The i-Pace already sounds promising and will also come with all-wheel drive technology helping the I-Pace go 0 to 62 miles per hour in just 4 seconds thanks to its new lightweight technology. The I-Pace will include two electric motors together producing 400PS of power and will charge up to 80% charge in 90 minutes using a 50kW DC rapid charger and can travel up to 310 miles on a single charge.
Jaguar cars are famous for their engines, technology and luxurious performance and the I-Pace seems to be taking on the main trademarks of the brand.
Pricing and release date:
There is no official pricing announced but we would expect it to go for around £60,000. The car will be revealed in late 2017 and be on the road in the second half of 2018.
