Jaguar is releasing a special edition of its Jaguar F-Type sports car to mark the ‘final model year’ and imminent ceasing of production.
And it’s not just the end of the road for the F-Type, Jaguar is also marking the demise of its ‘combustion engine performance’ vehicles, full stop, as it becomes a ‘pure electric modern luxury brand from 2025’.
The limited-run new F-Type is called the ‘75’ - which celebrates 75 years of Jaguar sports cars. It can be had as either a Coupe or Convertible.
While the regular F-Type is available with a 300 PS 2.0 litre petrol engine, the 75 variants will be up for grabs exclusively with the shoutier 5.0 V8 powertrain.
The V8 can be had with 450 PS in normal guise, or with a whopping 575 PS as an all-wheel-drive ‘R’ model.
Jaguar says the 75 looks ‘more purposeful and assertive than ever’, coming with unique 20 inch wheels as standard, a black grille badge, and black and grey accent colours, rather than the usual red and green.
The interior of the 75 F-Type gets stainless-steel tread plates, Windsor leather lightweight slimline seats, and an ebony Suedecloth headliner.
The handling of the F-Type has also been sharpened with the 75.
All F-Type models get double wishbone suspension at the front and rear and ‘Torque Vectoring by Braking’ for a more connected feel.
But the 75 variants are even more precise.
A Jaguar spokesperson explains:
“The chassis of the F-Type 75 and R 75 is further enhanced by rear knuckles made from light, stiff aluminium die castings, which, together with larger wheel bearings deliver absolute precision control of the tyre contact patch, translating to even more connected steering feel.
“For the R 75, this key attribute is optimised still further thanks to revised upper ball joints which significantly increase camber and toe stiffness. Both models also feature a rear electronic active differential (EAD) to optimise traction.”
The F-Type R 75 can also be specified with Jaguar’s Carbon Ceramic Matrix (CCM) braking system, which features 398mm and 380mm front and rear discs with six and four-piston monobloc calipers to help banish brake fade.
When it comes to oomph, the 450 PS F-Type 75 is available with either all-wheel drive or, ‘for the purists’, rear-wheel drive, and can sprint from 0-60mph in 4.4 seconds.
The 575 PS, 700 Nm torque 75 R takes the 0-60mph acceleration time down to just 3.5 seconds.
A spokesperson for the British manufacturer adds:
“The Jaguar F-Type looks as dramatic as ever and is the definitive Jaguar sports car in a rich bloodline going back 75 years. The powerful proportions of the front-engine two-seater – with its body structure sculpted from light, stiff aluminium – are instantly recognisable, and the focused and assertive presence references the flowing forms from Jaguar’s rich sports car heritage, which began with the XK120 – launched in 1948 as the world’s fastest production car.”
The F-Type 75 is available to order now, with prices starting at £78,330, and deliveries are expected early next year.
