‘Radical transformation’ for Hyundai Santa Fe

Talk about a makeover.

This is the reimagined Hyundai Santa Fe - and with its boxy new looks and imposing presence, it really takes the fight to Land Rover.

The Santa Fe has always been a versatile, practical SUV, coming with seven seats as well as modern hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains.

While the Santa Fe is polished and accomplished, it has never really been in the business of stealing admiring glances because of the way it looks.

That, though, could all be about to change, judging by these first-look pics of the updated model.

Hyundai itself says the Santa Fe has undergone a ‘radical transformation’ that includes the addition of ‘H’ shaped lights at the front and rear, a much more rugged exterior shell, a ‘terrace-like’ interior, and the ditching of the previous bling front grille.

The Korean firm also says the Santa Fe’s load-lugging abilities have been improved, so you’re better equipped to enjoy both ‘outdoor and urban activities’.

SangYup Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Hyundai Global Design Center, says: “The all-new Santa Fe is an SUV that finds a perfect balance between city life and the great outdoors, handling everything from busy family itineraries to car camping adventures. With its longer wheelbase, roomy interior and terrace-like tailgate space, the new Santa Fe leans into its SUV strengths to offer more versatility than ever before as well as a premium customer experience.”

One of the biggest competitors to the Hyundai Santa Fe is the Kia Sorento - another large SUV with a third row of seats in the back.

You can also keep the Land Rover Discovery Sport firmly on the list of rivals, with this upgrade bringing the Santa Fe even closer to the most affordable Land Rover model.

Inside the cabin you can expect a ‘Panoramic Curved Display’ consisting of a pair of 12.3 inch digital screens, as well as Nappa leather seats, suede headliner, and an abundance of recycled materials.

The new, fifth generation Hyundai Santa Fe will make its official world debut next month - with powertrain details yet to be announced.

In the meantime, you can lease the current Hyundai Santa Fe with Select Car Leasing from £463 per month*.
