Hyundai had better fork out for a new trophy cabinet - because its electric Ioniq 6 fastback has just won another major ‘Car of the Year’ award.
Earlier this year, the Ioniq 6 swept the board at the 2023 World Car Awards - where the winners are chosen by a panel of 100 international judges - taking home the gongs for World Car of the Year, World Electric Vehicle, and World Car Design of the Year.
And now the stunning saloon has scooped the main prize at the 2023 Scottish Car of the Year Awards (SCOTY), which is decided by scribes from the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers.
An Awards spokesperson told Select: “A mix of sensational looks, performance, comfort, range and technology elevated the Hyundai Ioniq 6 above some very talented rivals for the title that is decided by the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers.”
The Ioniq 6 also won the ‘Large EV’ class.
You can lease a Hyundai Ioniq 6 with Select Car Leasing for less than you might think, with monthly leasing prices beginning at £441 per month*.
What do you get for your dosh? You can expect a range of up to 339 miles between charges, while the most potent versions have power of 325 hp and can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 5.1 seconds.
As an alternative to the Tesla Model 3 or BMW i4, the streamlined, aerodynamic Ioniq 6 makes a compelling case for itself.
Elsewhere at the SCOTY Awards, the electric Kia EV6 GT triumphed in the Performance category, while the plug-in hybrid Lexus RX450h took home the Executive/Premium title.
The full hybrid Renault Austral (below) was named Family SUV while the Small Car silverware went to the affordable Dacia Duster SUV.
Last year’s SCOTY Car of the Year accolade went to the hybrid Honda Civic, which you can lease with Select from £429 per month*.
