This is Hyundai’s new ‘NPX1’ - and it’s a little glimpse at what your regular Ioniq 5 N performance SUV could look like.
In case you need a recap, the Ioniq 5 N is the hot version of the award-winning, fully-electric Ioniq 5.
With stonking power of up to 650 PS, a faintly ridiculous 0-62mph time of just 3.4 seconds, and a dedicated ‘drift’ mode, you’d be forgiven for thinking that the Ioniq 5 N (below) didn’t really need any more embellishments.
But Hyundai begs to differ - and is about to make a catalogue of bolt-on ‘N Performance Parts’ available for its hyper SUV.
And this - the NPX1 - is an example of what Ioniq 5 N owners might choose to do with their vehicles.
It features a carbon front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser, rear wing spoiler, lightweight hybrid carbon wheels, high-performance brake pads and lowering springs.
The swanky cabin is also enhanced with Alcantara material and racing bucket seats.
What’s more, Hyundai is readying to make N Performance Parts products available for all N models - which includes the i20 N and the i30 N.
Joon Park, Vice President of N Brand Management Group, said: “In 2024, Hyundai Motor Company will take a step forward as a leader in new tuning parts suitable for the high-performance EV era as demonstrated with the ‘NPX1’ concept model. Not limited to tuning parts, we are also developing software customization such as sound and vehicle calibration by OTA updates which will open a completely new category of EV customization for an exciting future ahead for the tuning community.”
