New Honda Civic e:HEV available to order

The hybrid Honda Civic e:HEV is now available to order - and it marks another milestone for a car that’s celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

The Civic might have been around five decades, but you can’t accuse it of being long in the tooth.

The style has changed radically over the years, to the point where it has now morphed into a sleek ‘fastback’, and so has the powertrain.

And this latest ‘e:HEV’ variant is a self-charging hybrid that offers fuel consumption upwards of 50 miles to the gallon as well as decent power of 184 PS.

Honda says that translates to a range of up to 521 miles and CO2 emissions as low as 89 g/km, which should be great news when it comes to your tax bill.

The Civic e:HEV also comes positively loaded with tech, even on base ‘Elegance’ models.

Rebecca Adamson, Head of Automobile for Honda UK, said:

“The launch of the all-new Civic marks an important milestone for the brand, celebrating the iconic model with the best iteration yet. It has once again set the benchmark in practicality, efficiency, performance and safety, tailored to modern customer demands across Europe.”

So, what is the e:HEV powertrain all about?

It combines a 2.0 litre petrol engine with a lithium ion battery and two electric motors. And it’ll seamlessly switch between ‘EV’, ‘Hybrid’ and ‘Petrol Engine’ drive depending on what you’re doing with your right foot.

It’s a ‘Full Hybrid’ - which charges itself through regenerative braking and via the combustion engine - and which does not need to be plugged in. You can read more about hybrid vehicles in our guide to hybrid electric vehicles, or HEVs.

Meanwhile the other brilliant thing about the Civic e:HEV is that all models come as standard with Honda’s ‘SENSING’ suite of sophisticated driver assistance and safety systems.

That tech includes adaptive cruise control with low speed follow, blind spot information, and lane keep assist.

Those base ‘Elegance’ grade Civics also get 17 inch alloys, front and rear parking sensors, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and sat-nav.

Mid-range ‘Sport’ models add part-leather seats, sports pedals, gloss black mirrors, and larger 18 inch rims.

Range-topping ‘Advance’ variants have an uprated BOSE sound system, Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB) headlights, unique alloys, leather seats and a heated steering wheel.

The Honda Civic e:HEV is priced from £29,595 to purchase outright and we’ll have lease deals available soon. Deliveries begin in October.

I could not recommend Select enough and the amazing service I had from my consultant Shane Newton. Shane regularly updated me on progress of my new vehicle, and was always so helpful in answering any queries I had regarding my order throughout the whole process - no question was silly - he always responded promptly whether that be through email or phone call. I just received my new vehicle last week, and Shane was in contact right away to ensure the handover was seamless and that I was happy with my new vehicle! Needless to say I was very happy with the earlier than anticipated delivery - Christmas has came early! This is my second vehicle with Select and yet another excellent service. I could not fault anything and want to thank Shane once again for all of his help!
