Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster is ‘world’s fastest’ convertible’

Unfussed by the cost of living crisis? Perhaps the ‘world's fastest and most powerful convertible' is on your shopping list!

The new Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster is an open-top version of the regular Hennessey Venom F5 coupe.

It takes centre stage in the UK this week, appearing at the Salon Privé motor show at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire.

And with a price tag of £2.5 million, the F5 Roadster is reserved for those with the very deepest of pockets, rivalling the £2 million Koenigsegg Regera and the £4 million Bugatti Mistral.

The F5 Roadster is powered by a colossal 6.6-liter ‘Fury’ V8 engine generating power of 1,817 bhp.

It has been ‘engineered to exceed 300 mph’ - a speed that breaks Hennessey’s own record for fastest convertible, beating the firm’s 2016 Venom GT Spyder, which achieved an eye-watering speed of 265.6 mph.

Hennessey doesn’t even bother to list a 0-62mph acceleration time, no doubt because that benchmark goes by in a blink of an eye. Instead we learn that the Venom F5 Roadster can hit 124 mph from a standstill in just 4.7 seconds.

The rear-wheel-drive F5 Roadster features a removable carbon fibre roof and tempered glass engine viewing window, among other bells and whistles.

And even the stand upon which you can store the removable roof panels when not in use is described as a ‘work-of-art sculptural pedestal’.

Texas-based John Hennessey, company founder and CEO, says:

“The UK is a very special market for Hennessey with London a major financial centre and a hub for global travel, not to mention the passion and enthusiasm of European hypercar buyers.
“The Venom F5 Roadster is obviously about extreme performance, but it also takes hypercars as an artform to a new level – so, the premium nature of Salon Privé is ideal for its European debut.”

John Hennessey knows what he’s talking about.

He’s a man who competed in the legendary Pikes Peak Hill Climb in Colorado, USA, and who has also blatted across the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah.

He began modifying cars in 1991, primarily so he could take part in the Pikes Peak race, and the Hennessey brand soon started to gain traction.
