- New ‘GT’ variant of GWM Ora 03 announced
- Updated name for former ‘Funky Cat’
- GT cars are equipped with sporty exterior body kit
- But no increase in power for GT compared with other models
Chinese manufacturer GWM has unveiled a new ‘GT’ variant of its Ora 03 electric hatchback.
While the Ora 03 GT certainly looks the part, there’s actually no increase in power compared with other models in the Ora 03 stable.
As before, you get 171 PS and the ability to sprint from 0-62 mph in around 8.2 seconds. So, a hot hatch the Ora 03 ain’t, but it’s certainly sprightly enough.
The new range-topping GT also looks the part, coming with 18-inch GT alloys with red detailing, red brake callipers, wheel arch extensions, and unique front and rear bumper styling.
Lease customers will enjoy a roof-mounted spoiler, red seat belts, ventilated and massaging front seats and a panoramic sunroof, as well as a heat pump for improved battery management.
The GT Ora 03, like the mid-range ‘Pro’ trim, features a 63 kWh battery and a range of up to 261 miles between charges.
The entry-level ‘Pure’ models, on the other hand, make do with a smaller 48 kWh battery back and a max range of 192 miles.
The good news is that all variants of the GWM Ora 3 (aka, the artist previously known as the ‘Ora Funky Cat’ before a rebrand last year) are decently equipped as standard, coming with a 10.25-inch multimedia infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, sat nav, wireless charging, a 360-degree camera, rear parking sensors, keyless entry and start, and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.
Standard-issue safety kit includes adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist.
The range starts from £24,995 and the Ora 03, with rivals including the MINI Cooper Electric, Fiat 500 Electric and the Peugeot E-208.
