Genesis teases new all-electric convertible

Here’s a concept car many will be hoping makes the leap from the page to production - the all-electric new Genesis X Convertible.

This is the third in a trio of concepts recently released by Genesis, the upmarket arm of Korea’s Hyundai.

The first was the ‘X Concept’, a two-door coupe (in blue, above) first released last year.

Genesis then teased the ‘X Speedium Coupe’, (in grey, above), which is apparently inspired by the Inje Speedium racetrack in Korea.

Now, continuing with the whole ‘X’ theme, Genesis has unveiled the X Convertible.

All three of the X cars are exceedingly easy on the eye, but with the X Convertible the good people in white coats at Genesis seem to have really nailed the styling.

If it ever makes it to the road - and we keep fingers crossed that it does - the X Convertible will boast power of 488 PS and a range of up to 310 miles between charges.

Design wise, the four-seat X Convertible features a folding hardtop roof that houses individual glass panels above the front occupants.

There’s a long bonnet and long wheelbase, making the Genesis X Convertible a rival to cars like the traditionally-fuelled Mercedes-Benz SL Cabriolet.

Meanwhile ‘muscular blisters’ around the wheels give the curvaceous X Convertible a classic ‘Coke bottle’ shape when viewed from above.

At the back you’ll find a concave elliptical tailgate with integrated spoiler as well as trademark Genesis horizontal quad tail lights.

The cabin features a wraparound instrument panel seamlessly integrated into the centre console.

Genesis’ Chief Creative Officer, Luc Donckerwolke, said:

“It is the normal development of Genesis to increase the athletic and emotional facet of our design philosophy by creating an emotional trilogy: the X family.
“Electric powertrains have given us the perfect scenario in which to enjoy nature, which is something convertibles do better than any other vehicle. With the Genesis X Convertible, we have built upon the stunning success of the X Concept and X Speedium Coupe to further propel the brand’s mission to create vehicles with even greater emotional resonance.”

Here at Select Car Leasing we’re already a big fan of what Genesis is bringing to the table - particularly the sumptuous interiors.

And there’s already a good selection of electrified cars in the Genesis stable - including the GV60 compact crossover, the Electrified GV70 SUV, and the Electrified G80 saloon.

You can lease a Genesis with Select Car Leasing from around £522 per month.

I would definitely recommend Select Car Leasing. They have been very helpful and efficient during the whole process. They always called me back and the online portal to track your order is very useful.
