Check out the Fiat 600 Hybrid - an affordable new addition to the compact crossover leasing market.
We’ve already welcomed the fully-electric 600e to UK roads, a car that arrived late last year and which has a range of up to 254 miles between charges.
Now this mild-hybrid 600 has also entered the fray, with prices beginning at £23,965 to purchase outright, and which should translate to wallet-friendly leasing prices - which we’ll announce as soon as we can.
A traditional 1.2-litre petrol engine combines with a 48V battery and 21 kW e-motor to offer power of 100hp.
It’s a frugal powertrain that’s ‘designed to meet the demands of modern drivers while prioritising sustainability and performance’, says Fiat, and it’s also mated to a smooth 6-speed automatic gearbox.
That 48V system is found in sibling cars like the Citroen C4 and the Peugeot 2008 - both of which also fall under the overarching Stellantis manufacturer umbrella - and which should offer an ‘urban cruising’ range of up to 1km using electricity alone.
A Fiat spokesperson explains: “Thanks to the innovative integration of an electric motor within the gearbox, the 600 Hybrid boasts full electric capabilities, allowing for effortless detachment of the engine from the transmission.”
Two trim levels will be available at launch - the entry-level 600 Hybrid and 600 Hybrid La Prima.
Those first-rung models feature 17-inch diamond cut alloys and heated seats in the front.
Meanwhile the range-topping La Prima variants get larger 18-inch rims, eco-leather seats, wireless phone charging, and autonomous driving at ‘Level 2’ - which means adaptive cruise control and lane change assist.
