Looking for a budget seven-seater for you and the family? Well, look no further than the new Dacia Jogger, which is now available to order.
Cars with seven seats are a pretty rare thing at the more affordable end of the market, with vehicles like the Vauxhall Zafira Tourer or the Renault Grand Scenic having disappeared from forecourts in recent years.
Those that are available, like the Peugeot 5008 or the Skoda Kodiaq, have an asking price starting at around £26,000.
The Dacia Jogger, on the hand, starts at just £14,995 on-the-road - a huge difference and one that’ll be mirrored in your monthly leasing costs.
And because the Jogger both looks decent and comes packed with equipment as standard, there’s a whole lot to admire about it, particularly as it plugs a really important gap in the market.
So what do you need to know?
First thing’s first, Dacia has now confirmed that the Jogger will be sold ‘exclusively with 7-seats’ - there’s going to be no five seat option. That third row of seats can, however, be removed when you need the maximum amount of space in the back.
Speaking of which, Dacia says the rearmost seats will happily accommodate two adults, such is the abundance of leg and headroom, while you get a generous 699 litres of cargo area with the third seats folded flat, 212 litres with all of the bum-rests in place.
Styling wise, Dacia has basically thrown the lot at it, ‘blending the practicality of an estate car with the spaciousness of an MPV and the styling of an SUV’.
Meanwhile Dacia is keen to tap-into buyers who like to get out camping, surfing, biking and mountain climbing at the weekend.
A spokesperson says:
“With a name that embodies the brand’s outdoor spirit, its positive energy and sense of adventure, the All-New Dacia Jogger is a life-long companion, ideally suited to the daily lives of families whether navigating urban environments or looking to get away into the great outdoors.”
A low load sill on the boot should make chucking your kit in the back a doddle, too.
There are three trim levels available with the Jogger - ‘Essential’, ‘Comfort’ and ‘Extreme SE’. And what’s really eye catching here is what you get as standard even on the base models.
It includes cruise control with speed limiter, rear parking sensors, automatic headlights, an Automatic Emergency Braking System (AEBS), and Dacia’s clever ‘Media Control’ that sees you placing your smartphone into a nifty little docking area.
Moving up the range, Comfort models add roof rails, tinted windows, a reversing camera, electric parking brake and an 8 inch media display.
Meanwhile Extreme SE lease cars come with extra boot protection, heated seats, blind spot warning, and an uprated interior.
From launch, the Jogger is powered by Dacia’s new TCe 110 1.0-litre three-cylinder direct injection turbocharged petrol engine, which develops power of 110hp and a maximum 200Nm of torque at 2,900rpm.
And you can expect fuel economy of between 47.1 and 49.6 mpg with CO2 emissions of 132g/km.
Dacia’s first hybrid powertrain option will also be joining the range in 2023.
