Dacia Duster Extreme SE returns

It’s back by popular demand - Dacia has relaunched the range-topping ‘Extreme SE’ variant of its rugged Duster SUV.

Whichever way you look at it, the Duster is a bit of a bargain. You can lease one with Select from around £212 per month.

Not only has the Duster stood the test of time, having driven into the UK market almost ten years ago, it’s a multiple award winner, too.

The Duster picked-up the gong for ‘Best Family SUV for Value’ at the What Car? Car of the Year Awards 2022, with judges admitting they found it hard to fathom how Dacia can sell a car ‘that's as practical and as versatile as the Duster for so little’.

And at the very pinnacle of the Duster range is the ‘Extreme SE’ - a tough, blacked-out variant of the workhorse that Dacia says accounted for nearly 20 per cent of Duster sales year-to-date.

So, what makes the Extreme SE so special?

Above and beyond the ‘Journey’ trim level, you get 17 inch black alloys, orange accents on the door mirrors, roof bars and tailgate, and orange flourishes in the interior, too.

You also get keyless entry, heated front seats, a multiview camera, rear parking sensors, automatic air conditioning, and 8-inch Media Nav with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay - all as standard.

There’s a choice of diesel, petrol or ‘Bi-Fuel’ engines available, the latter of which runs on a mix of petrol and LPG.

If you want all-wheel drive, you’ll have to go for the 1.5 litre ‘dCi 115’ diesel mill married to a manual gearbox, and which will return around 53 miles to the gallon.

If you’re looking for maximum performance, go for the 150 PS, 1.3 litre petrol ‘TCE 150’ engine, which comes mated to an automatic gearbox and two-wheel drive transmission.

The new Dacia Duster Extreme SE is priced from £18,295 on the road.

Affordable alternatives include the Nissan Qashqai, Renault Captur and the Suzuki Vitara.

Meanwhile the Duster is also available as a tough commercial vehicle - with the rear seats removed to make way for a 503 kg payload and metal bulkhead.

Dacia says the all-wheel drive version of the commercial Duster is the ‘UK’s most affordable and best value 4x4 LCV’.

We have just taken delivery of a new VW Touraeg, which we secured through Select Car Leasing (SCL). We would like to thank Shane Newton for overseeing the entire process and keeping us informed at every stage, particularly when (through no fault of his), the car was delayed. This is second occasion we have sourced a vehicle using SCL and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. During the course of our last order, we were contacted by a number of different people, depending upon availability and the nature of the call. Without exception they were all friendly and knowledgeable and gave the sense that they had the customers best interests at heart.
