Here’s another look at the incoming Cupra DarkRebel - an electric sports estate that fans will be clamouring to see in the metal.
The DarkRebel is a striking ‘shooting brake’-style car that Cupra first began teasing in April this year.
It’s very much a concept vehicle… for now at least.
And Cupra has been inviting a group of collaborators - known as the ‘Cupra Tribe’ - to fine-tune and hone the DarkRebel via an online ‘Hyper Configurator’ in the ‘Metaverse’ - with the Metaverse basically acts like a fully-immersive internet, but in 3D.
It’s all very hip and cutting edge - but will an actual, road-going version of the DarkRebel ever see the light of day?
Here at Select, we very much hope so. And the good people at Cupra suggest this latest round of virtual tinkering will see the DarkRebel accelerate into the final straight before production.
A Cupra spokesperson tells us the DarkRebel has now taken ‘a step closer to the physical world’.
Wayne Griffiths, CEO of Cupra, adds: “The Cupra DarkRebel is the latest provocation of the brand, created without the boundaries of the real world. This showcar has been created for the next generation, designed by a Tribe, not an individual, it’s a rebel with a purpose, showing that electric cars can be sexy, emotional, and shocking.”
While we wait for the DarkRebel to roll out of the factory, there are a few other sexy Cupras that should be high on your leasing wish list.
The electric Cupra Born acts as the evil twin to the more sedate Volkswagen ID.3, and can be leased with Select Car Leasing from just £379 per month*.
Spanish manufacturer Cupra has also recently launched a more affordable version of its petrol-powered Ateca SUV (below), which comes with power of 150 hp.
Meanwhile the raucous 300 hp variant of the Cupra Ateca can be leased with Select from £426 per month* - and it’s an SUV that’ll see you accelerating from 0-62 mph in 4.9 seconds.
