Good news for bargain hunters - you’ll soon be able to lease a more affordable version of the brilliant Cupra Ateca SUV.
Up until now, the Cupra Ateca was very much in the ‘HOT’ category. The only engine available was a 2.0 litre petrol unit making power of 300 PS and all-wheel drive was a standard-fit.
That’s potent, to say the least, with the Cupra Ateca competing with the Audi SQ2 and the Volkswagen Tiguan R, while being able to shift from 0-62 mph in just 4.9 seconds.
Now, however, two slightly more mild-mannered engines are being added to the line-up. But fear not, because the Cupra Ateca will still retain all of the aggressive styling it’s become synonymous with.
The new, entry-level engine is a 1.5 litre petrol TSI producing power of 150 PS and which is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch DSG-auto transmission. It’s an engine you’ll also find in the VW Tiguan and Audi Q2.
There’s also now a mid-level engine option, a 2.0 petrol with power of 190 PS. Like the 300 PS Cupra Ateca, that 190 PS offering is also matted to all-wheel drive.
Kai Vogler, Vice-President for Sales and Marketing at Cupra, says: “The Cupra Ateca was key for the brand to base its growth on, and we’re now focused on developing the vehicle to maximise its offering, fulfilling our customers’ needs,” said Kai Vogler, Vice-President for Sales and Marketing at Cupra. “With the new range of engines, our ambition is to increase sales of the Cupra Ateca, following the same trajectory we have taken with the Cupra Leon.”
The new line-up of engines will be available to order from July 2023.
And you can lease the 300 PS Cupra Ateca hot-SUV with Select Car Leasing from £398 per month*.
