Sharper looks, better comfort and increased practicality - that’s what you can expect from the updated and refreshed new Citroen C3 Aircross SUV.
In case you’re unfamiliar, the Citroen C3 Aircross takes the standard C3 hatchback and adds a higher ride height, increased versatility, and some of the most eye-catching styling on UK roads.
It’s now been improved for 2021 - with Citroen promising to ‘bring serenity to active lifestyles’.
The first big changes are apparent in the exterior, particularly when it comes to a completely redesigned front end.
There are new LED headlights, chrome-trimmed chevrons extending out towards the lights, as well a fresh grille with a brand-new geometric pattern.
There’s also a new aluminium-grey skid plate, with coloured inserts, and the bonnet is now higher-set than previous versions, enhancing its SUV underpinnings.
Another thing to note about the new C3 Aircross is that you really can make it your own.
Thanks to various paint schemes, colour packs and roof shades, there are some 70 exterior combinations in total. You can even change the colour of the inserts on the skid plates if you want to.
Citroen also says the Aircross is now a more pleasant space to spend time. There are new ‘Advanced Comfort’ seats with better posture control, while the appearance of the interior has also been improved to include better padding and unique stitching.
And to boost driver comfort further, the Aircross retains its ‘Grip Control’ system, which adjusts the car's front-wheel traction depending on the terrain, and also helps to stop you sliding when descending steep hills.
What’s also retained from the old Aircross is the generous amount of interior space - with rear legroom a particular winner.
The rear bench of seats can actually slide forwards and backwards, allowing you to increase the size of the boot from 410 litres to 520 litres.
The rear seats also fold down, giving some 1,289 litres of luggage space.
To improve practicality further there’s a new central console featuring a large storage space at the rear that can be accessed by both the front and rear passengers, and closed with a sliding shutter.
As well as a fully-connected infotainment system, replete with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, there’s a host of driving aids that ‘simplify everyday life and make each journey easier and safer’, according to Citroën.
That includes things like a colour head-up display, speed sign recognition and recommendation, Active Safety Brake and automatic high/low-beam headlights, depending on which spec level you go for. While even base models get cruise control, rear parking sensors and a smart 7-inch touchscreen.
Power wise, you can also choose from a range of economical petrol and diesel engines - with the popular BlueHDi 110 diesel returning a brilliant 60 miles to the gallon and offering tax-friendly CO2 emissions.
New Citroen C3 Aircross SUV will arrive in UK showrooms in June 2021.
