There are few manufacturers that have such a prestigious and revered reputation in the entire history of the automobile. BMW remain one of the long-standing stalwarts of the industry and their stylish and supreme models continue to reap incredible rewards.
BMW were no exception to what was an incredibly profitable year for the car industry, with the German manufacturer seeing it's new car-sales jump by an astounding 9% from 2013. A rate higher than esteemed and traditionally more widely available vehicle manufacturers such as Honda and Ford. These statistics will do only good for BMW who continue to pride themselves on sporty, luxurious vehicles that are now also strongly affordable.
The UK proved an excellent location for new registrations, as the market grew 9.3% on 2013 and left the UK the second most profitable market in Europe, behind only to Germany.
The Bavarian company boasted a 6% share of the overall market, and a 7% share of December's profit. A purely outstanding stat when you consider the sheer amount of competitors that BMW must now contend with. 12,445 vehicles were sold by the world-famous manufacturer in December alone, making it the fourth best manufacturer for new registrations in the final month of the year. More than 4,000 more new BMW's were registered than it's traditional rival Mercedes-Benz, who sold 20,000-less vehicles over the entire year. This is especially credible when you consider that Mercedes were also one of the top sellers over the course of the calendar, and boast a range of some of the most impressive vehicles on the market.
BMW Leasing
These figures are no doubt increased due to the healthy growth in popularity in car leasing which year-on-year continues to control a greater share of the market, and BMW lease will undoubtedly improve in tandem as it becomes an increasingly popular, and accepted option with motorists. The BVRLA chief has already stated that 2015 is expected to replicate 2014s success, and early figures suggest the market grew in 2014 by 5% and will continue to hit this rate or higher over the next few years.
In terms of models, the BMW 3 Series was one of the top-ten best selling vehicles of December, pipping the incredibly practical Volkswagen Polo and popular Nissan Juke. They will hope to continue this success in 2015 which may prove to be a year of even greater gains for the industry. It is also expected to be a strong year for Ultra-Low Emission Vehicles (ULEVs) with the sector quadrupling it's new registrations for 2013 with over 14,498 in 2014. BMW will hope this trend continues and they see success for the nifty and agile i3 and ice-cool i8.
