BMW’s plug-in hybrid XM SUV just got even tastier - after the manufacturer dropped a limited edition ‘Label Red’ variant.
In case you need a recap, the XM sits at the very top of BMW’s SUV tree, and competes with big hitters like the Bentley Bentayga, Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT, and the most potent versions of the Range Rover.
The regular XM marries a 4.4 litre twin turbocharged V8 petrol engine with a battery and electric motor to produce power of 662 PS, 800 Nm of torque, and a 0-62 mph acceleration time of 4.3 seconds.
It’s also a car that’s able to travel up to 55 miles using electricity alone, making it a premium, luxury all-rounder.
Now BMW has added a touch more glamour to the mix with this Label Red version, which will be limited to just 500 units world wide. To our eyes, there's a whiff of the iconic van from TV show The A-Team about it, too, which is no bad thing!
Black and red is the order of the day here, both inside and out, with Toronto Red metallic accents on the exterior and similar flourishes in the cabin.
BMW says it has been designed for lease customers who ‘crave bold, standout design and exceptional performance in a vehicle that transcends traditional conventions’.
Power for the Label Red BMW XM has also been boosted to a colossal 758 PS, which means it’ll now hit 62 mph from a standstill in 3.8 seconds while you still get an electric range of up to 52 miles.
The BMW XM Label Red includes the adaptive M suspension Professional package - which features electronically controlled dampers and active roll stabilisation with Active Roll Comfort to eliminate body roll on one side of the vehicle – and Integral Active Steering, all fitted as standard.
There’ M Sport braking, an all-wheel-drive system that has a rear-biased setup, and an electronically controlled differential lock in the rear axle.
You can expect lounge-like levels of sophistication in the interior, including a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System featuring a 1,475-watt amplifier and four additional speakers in the roof area.
