A crossover vehicle is essentially a car that takes all the best elements of a hatchback and SUV and marries them together into one coherent body shape.
So, you get the high riding position and luggage space of a large SUV, while a crossover also has the nimble and compact proportions of a hatchback, making it easier to live with on a day-to-day basis, particularly when it comes to things like parking.
A crossover, unlike a large SUV, will also often be fuel-efficient, particularly if you opt for one with an electric or plug-in hybrid powertrain.
There’s one vehicle in particular that consistently tops the crossover popularity charts - and that’s the Nissan Qashqai.
The trendsetting Qashqai was one of the UK’s first SUV-hatchback crossovers when it went on sale back in 2007, and it completely changed the face of the motoring industry.
It’s why the Qashqai - which was revamped and refreshed last year - is often described as the ‘King of the Crossovers’.
It’s affordable, dependable, there’s room for the entire family, it’s great around town or on the school run, and it can be had with an innovative ‘ePower’ hybrid drivetrain.
But it’s not the only crossover to consider - and the lease deals on these pages highlight some of the most eye-catching alternatives.
Read on for our run down of the BEST crossover deals available right now!
Nissan Qashqai
Lease prices from £215 per month*
As we pointed out above, the Nissan Qashqai is one of the most popular lease cars in the UK. According to the latest stats from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), the Qashqai is also the third best-selling vehicle of the year so far.
And there’s plenty to love about it, particularly if you need a car to meet the demands of hectic family life.
There’s plenty of room in the rear for passengers and a 504 litre boot is larger than lots of rivals.
This particular deal is for a Qashqai with a 1.3 litre petrol engine which can return up to 44.1 miles to the gallon. It’s also a Qashqai in mid-range ‘Acenta Premium’ trim, which comes with 17 inch alloys, an 8 inch infotainment touch screen, intelligent cruise control, and a full suite of safety systems.

Kia Niro EV
Lease prices from £315 per month*Previously known as the Kia ‘e-Niro’, the recently refreshed Niro EV is an all-electric compact crossover that has won a host of industry awards.
Among those gongs is the coveted trophy for ‘Small SUV of the Year’ at the Auto Express New Car Awards.
And there’s a reason critics and lease customers have given the nod to the Niro.
The model we have on special offer is the entry-level ‘2’ trim, which features a 64 kWh battery that unlocks a range of up to 285 miles between charges.
That’s more than rivals like the MG ZS EV, and it’s a similar distance to the Hyundai Kona Electric. You also get decent power of 201 bhp and tech such as adaptive smart cruise control, lane keep assist and a rear camera.
Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD
Lease prices from £593 per month*Yep, that’s right. You can get behind the wheel of one of the most desirable electric crossovers on the market for less than six hundred pounds per month.
The Tesla Model Y, launched late last year, goes up against the Audi Q4 e-tron, Ford Mustang Mach-E and Kia EV6.
And the deal we have available is for the eye-catching ‘Long Range All-Wheel Drive’ model, which has considerably more power than the entry-level ‘Rear-Wheel Drive’ Model Y.
You can expect a range of up to 331 miles and the ability to accelerate from 0-60mph in just 4.8 seconds.
The Model Y is also loaded with state-of-the-art technology, as you’d expect from a Tesla lease.
Genesis GV60
Lease prices from £577 per month*The Genesis GV60 is a relatively new kid on the block when it comes to the electric crossover market, with Genesis being the luxury division of Korea’s Hyundai.
And one of the GV60’s real trump cards is the way it looks, both inside and out.
There’s a sloping, coupe-like stance for the exterior while the cabin is a sea of expensive quilted materials. A crystal ball controller even pops-up out of the centre console when you turn it on. .
A 77.4 kWh battery provides a range of up to 321 miles between charges while the GV60 also supports 350 kW rapid charging, which can take the battery from 10-80 per cent in just 18 minutes.
Standard equipment on this base ‘Premium’ model includes everything from a head-up display and fingerprint reader authentication to ‘Highway Driving Assist’ and smart cruise control.
Ford Mustang Mach-E
Lease prices from £675 per month*You might have seen that in recent days Ford has relaunched its iconic Mustang GT muscle car, retaining its unmistakable - if thirsty - 5.0 litre V8 petrol engine.
But if you like your Mustang to be more frugal with fuel, the all-electric Mustang Mach-E is where it’s at.
The oomp you’d expect of a Mustang is still there. Power of 269 bhp means a brisk 0-62mph acceleration time of 6.9 seconds. You can also enjoy an emissions-free range of up to 273 miles between charges.
Meanwhile the kit on offer with this entry-level ‘Standard Range Rear-Wheel Drive’ model is extensive, including a 360 degree camera, large 15.5 inch central touch screen, a swanky Bang & Olufsen sound system, and adaptive cruise control with lane centering intelligence.
Cupra Formentor
Lease prices from £255 per month*Is there a better-looking crossover on the market right now..?
We’d argue that you might struggle to find out, particularly at this affordable price point.
The Formentor is a razor-sharp offering from the performance off-shoot of SEAT and which looks good from every angle.
This entry-level ‘V1’ model features a 1.5 litre petrol engine with power of 150 bhp and a 0-62mph acceleration time of 8.7 seconds. Even with that pace, you can still enjoy fuel economy of 44.8 mpg.
No wonder, then, that the Cupra Formentor was recently named ‘best all-rounder’ at the Autocar Awards 2022.
Peugeot 3008
Lease prices from £350 per month*The Peugeot 3008 makes a great alternative to cars like the Skoda Karoq or Volkswagen T-Cross.
And the great news about this lease deal is that it’s for a range-topping ‘GT’ trim variant.
It’s powered by a 1.2 litre petrol engine that offers fuel economy up to around 48 miles to the gallon, which should save you money at the pumps.
The GT 2008 features unique, sporty exterior styling that marks it out from the other models in the range.
And when it comes to kit, you can experience an uprated interior with alcantara and leather seats, ambient lighting, head-up display, and tech such as Adaptive Cruise Control, radar-assisted Advanced Emergency Braking and Front Collision Warning.
