Best affordable four-seat convertibles to lease this summer

Want to feel the wind in your hair AND take passengers along for the ride?

You can have your cake and eat it by leasing one of these brilliant, affordable four-seat convertibles.

Summer solstice - the longest day of the year - arrives later this month (Weds June 21st) and it’s an occasion that might have you dreaming of roofless vistas during atmospheric sunset drives.

There’s obviously no shortage of two-seat roadsters to enjoy, from the ionic Mazda MX-5 to the honed and athletic Porsche 718 Boxster.

But there’s just one problem with those cars - you can only take one other person with you.

And while the rear seats in larger convertibles are not quite as generous as you might find in a regular saloon or coupe, they’re usually ample for a couple of adults and offer more than enough room for smiling youngsters.

We’ve rounded up the best and most affordable four-seat convertibles that you can lease right now, with some models in stock and ready to be delivered to your door.

BMW 4 Series Convertible | From £582 per month*

With the recent demise of the old Audi A5 Cabriolet, the BMW 4 Series Convertible has become the go-to soft-top for anyone looking for a premium lease vehicle with a choice of excellent engines and impeccable build quality.

There’s room for two fully-grown adults in the rear as well as a practical 385 litre boot - which is about the same as you get with a typical Volkswagen Golf.

The most affordable models to lease get the 420i engine with power of 184 bhp, while the M Models enjoy a more potent M440i powertrain with a whopping 374 bhp.

There’s another option… but for this you need to be quick!

BMW recently discontinued its 2 Series Convertible (above, and which again has four seats) - but we still have leasing stock available, with prices beginning at just £359.94 per month*.

Fiat 500C | From £235 per month*

There’s no shake, rattle and roll with the Fiat 500C convertible - and we’ll explain why.

With any cabriolet, you lose some of the structural rigidity from having a traditional roof. That in turn can cause more flex in the car's chassis and manufacturers have to work overtime to prevent this so-called ‘scuttle shake’.

With the Fiat 500C, however, the roof and pillars stay the same as in any other car. The soft-top here essentially acts like a huge fabric sunroof that simply slides back to reveal the sky above.

The 500C is also just about the cheapest convertible to lease, full stop, which makes it even more tempting.

VW T-Roc Cabriolet | From £340 per month*

The soft-top T-Roc is a left-field choice for a convertible, seeing as how it’s a compact SUV rather than a coupe.

You also have just the two seats in the back with a T-Roc Cabriolet, rather than the three you get with the regular T-Roc.

But it’s relatively spacious and you also enjoy a decent 284 litre boot.

Heated seats, an infotainment system with sat nav, and driver assistance tech like adaptive cruise control all come as standard, whichever trim you lease.

And the 1.5 litre petrol engine has plenty of poke, coming with power of 150 bhp.

MINI Convertible | From £335 per month*

The rearmost seats in the MINI Convertible might not be built for long distances or taller passengers, but they’re perfect for the nippers while also offering plenty of extra space for your luggage.

Perhaps the best thing about the MINI Convertible is that it’s no less fun than the regular hatchback, and can be enjoyed in 178 bhp Cooper S form or as the ballistic, 231 bhp John Cooper Works.

There’s also a fully electric variant, which has a fairly limited range of up to 124 miles between charges and has only been built in limited numbers… for now, at least.

Ford Mustang Convertible | From £780 per month*

You might be short of a solid roof with the Ford Mustang cabriolet, but you don’t have to compromise on the ferocious power that comes with this iconic muscle car.

Yep, you get a stonking 5.0 litre V8 chucking out power of 450 bhp as well as a 0-62 mph acceleration time of just 5.1 seconds.

There’s also a ‘California Special’ variant which has been built for the sun-bleached roads of America’s West Coast, and which features a special honeycomb grill, unique 19 inch alloys, and eye-catching racing stripes.

Jeep Wrangler | From £778 per month*

Jeep’s famous Wrangler SUV offers a whole different type of roof-down experience - but it’s a fantastic option nonetheless.

You can spec the Wrangler in either two-door or four-door form and whichever body type you go for, you get a three piece removable hard roof as standard.

On certain models you can even remove the doors for a properly open-to-the-elements driving experience.

Meanwhile a retractable, sliding fabric roof - which can also be removed entirely if needs be - is an option you can add to your leasing package for around £50 extra per month.

You get go-anywhere all-wheel drive with a Wrangler lease, as well as a 2.0 litre petrol engine with power of 268 bhp.
