- All-new Bentley Flying Spur is ‘four-door supercar’
- Most powerful Bentley sedan ever
- Gets power of 782 PS and 3.5 sec 0-62 mph acceleration
- Expect prices to start at around £220,000
Bentley has revealed the all-new Flying Spur - and it’s a blisteringly-quick four-door supercar.
While the Flying Spur has in the past been available with a clunking-great 6.0-litre W12 engine, this new fourth-gen model is underpinned exclusively by a 4.0-litre V8 plug-in hybrid powertrain. It’s an engine that also lives in the new Bentley Continental GT Speed.
Bentley says the hybrid system ‘outperforms the previous W12 Speed on every metric: torque, power, acceleration and emissions’.
So what you’re looking at is the most powerful Bentley sedan ever.
A whopping 782 PS and 1,000 Nm of torque makes the Flying Spur an ‘ultra performance hybrid’ that’ll accelerate from 0-62 mph in 3.5 seconds when you drop it into ‘Sport Mode’. That’s half a second quicker than its predecessor.
The luxurious grand tourer will also travel for up to 47 miles in pure EV mode, thanks to a 25.9 kWh battery and an electric motor that’s integrated within the 8-speed dual clutch transmission.
You can deploy the E-motor at speeds of up to 87 mph while the battery can be replenished in less than three hours thanks to 11 kW peak charging.
All-wheel drive is standard, as is Bentley’s ‘Performance Active Chassis’ system, which features all-wheel steering and an electronically controlled Limited Slip Differential.
The exterior design hasn’t changed all too much but there are a few enhancements.
There’s an updated front grille, front bumper and rear diffuser that creates a ‘fresh, purposeful look’, says Bentley, while an optional aero package is now finished in body colour.
The cabin gets all-new seats with 3D diamond quilting, an intelligent air ionisation system, and opulent levels of upholstery throughout, all customisable to the nth degree. The Bentley Rotating Display with its choice of 12.3” high-definition display, three analogue dials, or an unbroken side of handcrafted veneer continues to be offered as an option.
Customers can also expect wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, over-the-air map updates, remote park assist, and remote cabin preconditioning.
While Bentley hasn’t revealed pricing just yet, you can expect the Flying Spur to begin at around £220,000.
