Audi unveil new TT RS

Audi have unveiled the latest edition of their TT RS vehicle and its fair to say it will pack a fair bit of power. The Audi TT first arrived on the scene in 1998 and since then it has enjoyed various performance enhancements that have contributed to its ascent as one of the best modern coupes and convertibles.

The new TT RS will come in both forms and offer upto 394bhp - easily the best figures of any previous TT and good news for those chasing a high-performance, lightweight supercar. Arriving later this year the TT RS will be wasting no time and its truly staggering statistics make it very close, certainly in terms of performance, to Audi's premium vehicle the R8.

The TT RS was unveiled at this years Beijing Motor Show where it partnered a number of other key reveals from Audi.

A little more on the engine stats and Audi have made no bones about the fact the vehicle will still carry a fair bit of throttle. Its also a lot lighter, 26 kg in fact, so while its unlikely to really reach the top table of performance vehicles, the new weight will aid other elements of the vehicles performance including its economy. There will be a 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbo under that sloped, stylish bonnet which will be responsible for generating those incredible numbers of 394bhp.

Audi have also spoken about the distinct sound the vehicle will offer which will apparently be highly "unique", certainly likely to go along with the TT RS design which is made even bolder with a large spoiler and an even more brave diffuser which will give the vehicle a distinct appearance on the road and perhaps even the track as well. There also Matrix LED Headlights to enhance the sporty feel. There will be a number of options at launch as well including ceramic breaks and chunkier alloys.

Inside there will be Audi's classic dedication to interior luxury with a 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit able to control many of the vehicle's in-car functions and sports seats to truly round the vehicle off with a race-car feel. There is also a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and an optional RS Sports Suspension System which heightens performance even more with something called 'adaptive magnetic control'.
