Range boost for Audi Q6 e-tron

Audi has welcomed a new member to its electric Q6 e-tron family in the form of an entry-level, rear-wheel drive variant.

As it stands right now, you can lease theAudi Q6 e-tron SUV in two forms, both of them all-wheel drive - the ‘Quattro’ model or the powerful SQ6 e-tron.

The maximum range currently stands at 382 miles, for the Quattro.

But later this summer, when the rear-wheel drive ‘Performance’ variant becomes available, it’ll up the ante by lowering the asking price to £63,475 while boosting the range up to 392 miles between charges.

It’s a win-win situation for lease customers, then, and it also means the Audi Q6 e-tron steals a march on the 381-mile Porsche Macan Electric when it comes to journey distances.

Power for the bottom-rung Performance Q6 e-tron stands at 326 PS - which is down on the Quattro model’s 388 PS - but you’ll still be able to accelerate from 0-62 mph in just 6.6 seconds, when launch control is engaged.

An Audi spokesperson says: “Such capabilities make the Audi Q6 SUV e-tron performance an attractive choice for customers who are looking for an extended electric range, dynamic performance, and suitability for everyday use with brief charging stops. With up to 392 miles on a single charge, the Audi Q6 SUV e-tron performance is among the best in its class for electric driving range.”

The battery size is consistent across the Audi Q6 e-tron range, at 100 kWh, and lease customers will still enjoy a charging capability of up to 260 kW.

With the Performance Q6 e-tron, it’s possible to add 161 miles of driving range in 10 minutes.

While the Q6 e-tron has been available to order for a few weeks now, first customer deliveries are due to begin this August while the new Performance Q6 e-tron will be added to the line-up at the back end of the summer.

Rivals to the Q6 e-tron - which sits in Audi’s range between the smaller Q4 e-tron and the larger Q8 e-tron - also include the Jaguar I-PACE and BMW iX3.
