‘Dynamic’ new Audi Q5 Sportback arrives

  • New Audi Q5 Sportback revealed
  • Sleeker sibling to Q5 SUV
  • All engines supported by mild-hybrid tech
  • Orders books open Jan 14, 2025

Here’s the new Audi Q5 Sportback - now more ‘dynamic’ than ever and equipped with mild-hybrid tech as standard.

The Q5 Sportback is the coupe-shaped sibling to the regular Audi Q5 SUV. It’s also a rival to cars like the BMW X4 and Volvo XC60.

And following the Q5 SUV’s recent facelift, the Q5 Sportback has also been treated to a glow-up for 2025.

The silhouette is more ‘dynamic’ than its predecessor, according to Audi.

The front grille now features vertical air curtains and a large air intake, while there are also new headlights. At the back, the rear is stretched out as far as possible to create a sleek sloping roofline that runs down from the B-pillar.

An Audi spokesperson adds: “This enhances the classic proportions of an SUV, creating an even more dynamic profile in the stylish Sportback form. The elegant rear window graphics also help to visually stretch the cabin.”

You also get a decent boot of up to 515 litres, which is only slightly down on the Q5 SUV’s 550 litres.

An Audi Q5 Sportback lease comes in four distinct flavours - starting at the entry-level ‘Sport’ and running through ‘S Line, ‘Edition 1’ and range-topping ‘SQ5’.

Base Sport models get unique accents in the radiator grille and grey inlays in the front air intake, with contrast bumpers in Volcano Grey.

The S line, Edition 1 and S model have larger front air intakes and a sportier rear diffuser. Meanwhile the Edition 1 and SQ5 cars feature chrome-look flourishes on the front grille.

The other key thing to note is that all of the three engines available at launch - a 2.0-litre petrol, 2.0-litre diesel, and a 3.0 V6 for the SQ5 Sportback - are supported by Audi’s ‘MHEV plus’ mild-hybrid wizardry.

Like most mild-hybrids, the tech works to support the combustion engine while reducing CO2 emissions and providing a little boost of performance. In this case, an extra 23 PS of power and 230 Nm of torque is briefly available for you to harness, courtesy of a 1.7 kWh battery and powertrain generator.

Plug-in hybrid variants of the Audi Q5 Sportback will also be up for grabs in due course.

When it comes to the engines, the 2.0 TFSI petrol and the 2.0 TDI diesel both develop 204 PS while the V6 in the SQ5 Sportback chucks out 367 PS and 550 Nm of torque.

All models in the series use the S tronic seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and quattro all-wheel drive.

Prices begin at £52,450 - a £2,500 premium over the Audi Q5 SUV
