It looks like James Bond might need a set of leathers, a helmet and a bike licence.
Because Aston Martin has unveiled a new ‘AMB 001 Pro’ hyperbike.
And with a power-to-weight ratio similar to that of a Formula One car, it might be the vehicular weapon of choice that 007 uses when the super-spy is next seen on the big screen.
The AMG 001 Pro is born from a collaboration between Aston Martin and Brough Superior Motorcycles, a British bike firm with a 100 year heritage and which was relaunched in 2013 to sell seriously up-market two-wheelers.
The AMG 001 Pro is also ‘inspired by’ Aston Martin’s Valkyrie ‘AMR Pro’ hypercar, a V12, 1000 bhp track special edition of the Valkyrie road car. The AMR Pro Valkyrie was first unveiled last year.
And the AMG 001 Pro is now being shown off at the ‘EICMA’ Milan Motorcycle Show.
It’s powered by a dual-cylinder 997cc engine that offers power of 225 hp. To put that into perspective, the extreme Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade makes around 214 hp. So you can bet your bottom dollar that the AMG 001 Pro is SERIOUSLY quick.
It’s so quick, in fact, that you can only take it on the track - which might be tricky for Bond if he’s got to chase baddies across a bustling metropolis.
Design wise, there’s also a crankcase fully machined from solid billet aluminium, which Aston Martin says is a unique feature for a production motorcycle.
Marek Reichman, Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer of Aston Martin, said:
“It’s a beautifully simple formula. Form plus technology equals performance.
“When you push something to the very edge of capacity, and do it seamlessly, the resulting experience can have you breathless. There is no separation between the advanced materials, design and technical capabilities of the bike. We’ve achieved this fluidity again with Brough Superior for those who desire a track superbike like none other. The rider is part of this moving sculpture and will literally feel as though they are part of the track when laying atop the AMB 001 Pro.”
Of course, it’s not the first Aston Martin motorcycle.
The original ‘AMG 001’ was revealed back in 2019, so you can consider the AMG 001 Pro a ‘sequel’ to rival any Bond flick.
The AMB 001 Pro is offered in a single specification, featuring a racing livery that combines ‘Aston Martin Verdant Jade’ with satin finished carbon fibre and black ‘Cerakote’ engine and suspension.
Production is strictly limited to a maximum of 88 bikes, which will be built at the Brough Superior factory in Toulouse, France. And they’re expected to cost around £120,000 apiece.
