- Kia EV3 wins ‘Car of the Year’ prize
- Accolade comes from The Car Expert Awards 2025
- Also triumphs in ‘Best Small Crossover’ category
- Double win for Renault, too
The electric Kia EV3 is your ‘Car of the Year’, according to this year’s The Car Expert Awards 2025.
Advice website The Car Expert says the results reflect their ‘curated’ analysis of all of the new car reviews from all of the UK’s major motoring websites.
And after forming a ‘consensus of all the top motoring titles in the UK’, The Car Expert says the Kia EV3 impressed journos the most.
A spokesperson for the awards said: “The EV3 isn’t just another bar-raising new car from Kia. It really shows how electric cars can be objectively superior to fossil-fuel cars in most of the ways that count. It’s a compact SUV with more cabin and boot space than many larger vehicles. It’s smooth, quiet, comfortable and refined to drive. It has more than enough battery range for the vast majority of UK driving habits. It throws in plenty of standard kit at a very competitive price. And it’s intelligently designed for family car needs.”
The Kia EV3 also triumphed in the ‘Best Small Crossover’ category, elbowing rivals like the Volvo EX30 out of the way.
Elsewhere in the awards there were two big wins for Renault. The French firm’s Renault 5 E-Tech (above) was named ‘Best Small Car 2025’ - having just landed the top gong at the TopGear.com. Not a bad couple of weeks, then, for the retro-futuristic hatchback.
The Renault Scenic E-Tech, meanwhile, was handed the ‘Best Medium Car 2025’ silverware, with judges commenting: “The stylishly reinvented Renault Scenic brings style and practicality to the family EV sector in a way that no other new cars in its class can match.”
We should also give a shout-out to the latest Ford Mustang (above), which took home the trophy for ‘Best Coupé 2025’.
The Car Expert said: “With muscular styling and a growling V8 soundtrack, the new Ford Mustang is the perfect antidote to modern econoboxes' tedium.”
