- Citroen to launch new e-C3 van
- Will take on the Dacia Spring Cargo
- Range of up to 199 miles powered via 44 kWh battery
- Gets car-like levels of comfort
Citroen has confirmed plans to introduce a commercial version of its all-electric e-C3 supermini.
This compact commercial vehicle will offer a budget-friendly option for businesses seeking a zero-emission urban delivery vehicle. The e-C3 Van will directly rival Dacia’s Spring Cargo and sit below the E-Berlingo in Citroen’s line-up.
To convert the e-C3 to a car-derived van, the rear seats will be removed, a flat load floor will be installed, the rear windows will be blanked out, and a mesh bulkhead fitted. The conversion will meet N1 classification standards, officially qualifying it as a car-derived van.
The load volume is expected to be around 1.3m³, with a payload capacity of roughly half a tonne. The e-C3 Van will retain some key features from the passenger car version, such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth and a DAB radio, as well as Citroen’s Advanced Comfort seats.
The e-C3 Van will provide a range of up to 199 miles powered by a 44kWh battery. It will support 100kW rapid charging, allowing a 20–80% top-up in under 30 minutes. The onboard 7.6kW charger will allow for slower home or on-site charging options.
A 113hp front-mounted motor will provide the power, with a 0-62mph time of 10.4 seconds and a top speed of 84mph, making the e-C3 Van a good option for urban deliveries and light-duty tasks.
Full pricing and specifications are expected in early April, but we expect the Citroen e-C3 van to be priced at around £17,500 before VAT –more expensive than the Dacia Spring Cargo (above) but undercutting the E-Berlingo by around £10,000. Businesses will also benefit from the government’s £2,500 plug-in van grant, reducing costs further.
Orders will open by the end of April, with customer deliveries expected to begin in the summer.
