The VW ID.5 is similar in size to the ID.4 and also enjoys a practical 549-litre boot. But, unlike the more traditionally-shaped ID.4, the ID.5 features a striking sloping roofline which gives it a much more athletic appearance.
A major update for the ID.5 for 2024 saw it being handed a VW ‘APP550’ drive unit, whereby a 77 kWh battery provides a range of up to 339 miles between charges.

The ID.5 is generously equipped as standard. A panoramic sunroof is a given, as is the ability to get over-the-air software updates. You can have an augmented reality head-up display as an option should you wish, the infotainment system has Artificial Intelligence learning capabilities, and ‘swarm’ data sharing gives drivers an early warning about any potential hazards up ahead, such as stationary traffic.
Meanwhile the new optional Park Assist Plus pretty much parks your car for you at the touch of a button in an app.
If you need an ID.5 with a little more oomph, you’ll want to lease the tempting dual motor, all-wheel-drive GTX version. Here you’ll enjoy power of up to 340 PS, blistering acceleration, and yet you’ll still have a range of up to 308 miles, depending on local conditions.
And remember, because the ID.5 has zero emissions at the tailpipe, as a business lease customer looking for a company car, you’ll pay just 2% Benefit in Kind (BIK) tax for the year 2022-23.
