The traditionally-fuelled Omoda 5 enjoys a 1.6-litre engine with power of 187 hp and 275 Nm of torque, and which can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 7.8 seconds.
The electric Omoda E5, meanwhile, is equipped with a 61 kWh battery which unlocks power of 204 hp as well as a range of up to 257 miles between charges. Rapid 80 kW DC charging speeds can replenish the energy in the battery from 30-80% in around 18 minutes.
The battery-powered E5 can also sprint from 0-62 mph in 7.2 seconds, which should be ample for most.
Both the Omoda 5 and the electric E5 are available in two trims - entry-level ‘Comfort’ and range-topping ‘Noble’.
The petrol Omoda 5 is equipped as standard with a crisp 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen and digital driver display, as well as a desirable Sony sound system and a full suite of safety equipment, which includes adaptive cruise control, rear cross traffic alert, and lane departure prevention.
The electric Omoda E5, meanwhile, comes as standard with a large twin-screen curved display, wireless mobile phone charging, and wireless Android Auto & Apple Carplay - as well as all of the safety tech offered with the regular Omoda 5.
Rivals to the petrol Omoda 5 include the Hyundai Kona and Volkswagen T-Roc, while the electric Omoda E5 competes with the likes of the MG ZS EV, BYD Atto3, and Kia Niro EV.
