The GLB is an extremely versatile, distinctively designed SUV. With seven seats and a generously spacious cabin, the GLB oozes the usual style we’ve come to expect from Mercedes-Benz.
The infotainment system can be voice-controlled, via the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX), so you don’t even need to move your hands from the wheel to navigate or play music. You can create pre-programmed settings within the GLB, with up to seven sets of data saving preferences from seating positions and climate control settings to preferred driving modes and radio stations; share the car with the family and everybody will feel like it’s their own GLB.
The Mercedes-Benz GLB is packed full of safety equipment as standard, so you can rest assured that you and your family are in safe hands. A highlight is the active bonnet that detects a collision with a pedestrian and raises by 65mm, keeping vulnerable body parts away from the hard bits of the engine.
Lane-keeping assist is standard across all models, while electronic stability programmes with acceleration skid control are also included, alongside traffic sign recognition although the latter is fitted to higher spec models only. When tested by Euro NCAP, the Mercedes GLB was awarded the full five-star rating, reflecting its impressive active and passive safety specifications.
Practicality is also a strong point for the GLB. With seven seats, there is plenty of room for all the family and, if you use just five seats there’s a pleasingly large boot. It’ll take 570 litres of cargo so you’ll not struggle to pack in everything you might need. With a 180-degree rearview camera and, in most models, all-around parking sensors, you’ll know where the corners are, making driving easy and stress-free.
There are three regular trim levels available for the Mercedes-Benz GLB; AMG Line, AMG Line Premium and AMG Line Premium Plus. The naming convention suggests that each step up provides more equipment and luxury.
A separate Mercedes-AMG GLB is also available, which eschews the sensible petrol engine and frugal diesel options, replacing it with a 306hp engine offering sportscar performance in a large family SUV.
