About the Kia Sportage
The Kia Sportage is a popular, well-built and well-equipped SUV.
The front end features sporty creases at the sides that give it an athletic presence, and the rear is shapely and full of personality.
It is also very relaxing and easy to drive, thanks to a spacious cabin and well-mannered handling. Meanwhile, all powertrains perform well, although the hybrid models offer noticeably stronger performance.
The Sportage is reasonably economical, too, while the plug-in hybrid version is capable of all-electric driving with a range of around 40 miles.
It has plenty of safety features and driver assistance systems, with more features further up the trim levels.
In addition, higher trim levels add to the convenience, with a premium sound system and powered tailgate among the items on offer.
Why lease a Kia Sportage?
The Kia Sportage might not sound that exciting, but you may change your mind when you see how it looks.
It offers a head-turning front end and a shapely rear with a large crease running horizontally along the back as if someone's pulled its skin slightly to create a spoiler.
It is stylish and attractive but isn't all show and no-go. The Kia is also superbly practical, boasting a generous amount of headroom and legroom inside the cabin.
Not only that, the interior itself looks modern and inviting, with a curved dashboard display, and, as SUVs go, it handles well, too.
Even entry-level trims are well-equipped, although you get more and more added on as you go higher up the range.
Which Kia Sportage fuel type is right for me?
The Sportage is available as a petrol, petrol mild-hybrid, self-charging hybrid or plug-in hybrid. Kia doesn't sell diesels these days, and there's no all-electric version of the Sportage, at least not yet.
Petrol
The petrol version of the Sportage comes with a 1.6-litre engine with a six-speed manual gearbox and comes with a power output beginning at 113 bhp. Most are front-wheel drive, although higher trims get an all-wheel drive option. Some have mild hybrid technology, too.
Hybrid
The true hybrids come in two versions: a self-charging variant (HEV) which produces at least 212 bhp, while the plug-in version (PHEV) produces up to 261 bhp, both using a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine and an electric motor.
Which trim level should I lease?
There are several trim levels offered on the Kia Sportage – five of them, to be precise: ‘2’, GT-Line, ‘3’, ‘4’ and GT-Line S, although the ‘2’ trim isn’t available on the hybrids.

The Kia Sportage has an assured, refined presence on the road, and a stylish, comfortable interior that will serve a family or a single driver with the same steadfast reliability. With official fuel consumption figures of up to 52mpg, you’ll get value for money from your motoring too, as well as lowering emissions with the mild-hybrid version.
Model grades with carefully selected equipment levels also mean there’s no lengthy options list to work through, with your only choice being a trim level and paint colour.
There is plenty of safety equipment fitted to the Kia Sportage as standard, and with an award of five stars out of five from the safety experts at Euro NCAP, you’ll be as safe as you can be if the worst should happen. All models are equipped with active and passive safety features, such as anti-lock braking systems, electronic stability control and lane-keeping assist systems, as well as curtain airbags, rollover sensors and impact sensing doors that unlock after a crash to aid emergency exit or recovery.

There are four trim levels of Sportage available from Kia, starting with the entry point to the rage, the ‘2’. If you’re wondering where ‘1’ went, that’s a lower specification trim reserved for Kia’s smaller hatchbacks. Following that is the ‘3’ and then the GT-Line and GT-Line S models. Each adds more equipment, although the ‘2 is well specified to start with, while the GT-Line models add some sporty design touches.
Be careful when choosing engine options, though. There’s just two 1.6- litre petrol engines and a 1.6-litre diesel engine to choose from, but add mamnual and automatic gearbox choices and either front- or all-well-drive, with some combinations only available on some models, and the decision aking process can get more complex than you think.
I would definitely recommend Select Car Leasing. They have been very helpful and efficient during the whole process. They always called me back and the online portal to track your order is very useful.
This is my 4th lease car through Select Car Leasing. I would firstly say that Richard Taylor who has organised all four purchases was again superb, keeping me informed of all progress from start to finish. His style is professional but very personable which I appreciate. There was a hold up in proceedings due to the finance companies strict procedures but I guess this can be expected in the 'claim' world we live in! I will definitely be using Select Car Leasing again but on my next vehicle I will start organising it a bit earlier than usual. Thanks again Richard very much appreciated, I'm loving the new car!
Great support all the way thank you David
