A major update for the Kona in 2023 saw the addition of a 48kW battery and a new 65kW unit, the larger of those two offering a range of up to 319 miles between charges. 

The 39 kWh unit provides a range of up to 189 miles, while the larger 64 kWh battery will let you travel up to 300 miles between charges.

That compares well with the Kona Electric’s biggest rival, the Kia Niro EV, with the Niro having a range of up to 285 miles between battery top-ups.

Entry level models come generously specced as standard, enjoying rear parking sensors and adaptive cruise control, while range-topping models get everything from heated and ventilated front seats to wireless phone charging and an uprated sound system.

Charging the Kona Electric is simple and easy.

Using a regular home wallbox a full replenish will take around 9 hours, while the Kona Electric also supports 100 kW rapid charging for those fast replenishes when you’re on the go.
