About Citroen Berlingo
The Berlingo is Citroen’s long-serving van, first introduced more than 25 years ago. Thanks to its versatility, the current third-generation model is proving to be a favourite for commercial buyers, from owner-operators to huge fleet buyers. That’s been boosted by its flexibility, with engine options for every use.
Since its introduction in 2018, the Berlingo has remained a stalwart model for the French brand, selling more than 150,000 a year worldwide. In the UK, It’s also twinned with a number of models manufactured by the Stellantis Group, including the Vauxhall Combo, Peugeot Rifter and the Fiat Doblo. Toyota also uses the Berlingo platform for its ProAce City van, proving its suitability as compact commercial transport.
Why Lease a Citroen Berlingo
There’s a reason the Berlingo has been around for so long and a reason so many other models share its underpinning. This is one of the most versatile, capable and dependable vans on the market.
The Citroen is adaptable for several use cases, with versions made for higher payloads, more passengers, and better off-road performance, as well as models suited more to heavy payloads or large load volumes. There aren’t many jobs that wouldn’t suit a Berlingo.
Given the model’s long life, Citroen knows what its customers want and need, and that insight informed a truly well-rounded model. While capable for the jobs at hand, it’s also comfortable for the driver, with more features than ever before to ensure you arrive at your next job fresh and raring to go. In short, the Berlingo’s probably the biggest name in the small van game. A makeover in 2023 for 2024 also gave the Berlingo real staying power in the market.
Which Citroen Berlingo fuel type is right for me?
The Citroen Berlingo van has three different powertrains; diesel, electric and, unusually, petrol. The wide range means there’s likely to be something just right for your needs.
Diesel
There are two diesel engines available; BlueHDi 100 and BlueHDi 130, with the numbers giving the nod towards how much power each provides. Better suited to longer runs and high load weights, diesel power gives drivers more low-down grunt and an economical long-range cruising. Despite the allure of the extra 30hp from the BlueHDi 130, the BlueHDi 100 will be more than enough for most circumstances.
Petrol
Petrol-powered vans are few and far between, lacking the torque needed to lug heavy loads. However, the refinement offered by the petrol model will make driving more pleasurable. With 110hp, it’ll keep up with most things on the road while being less restricted by ever-expanding ULEZ areas and regulations. Heavy-duty users might want to look elsewhere, but it'll be brilliant for light use, city-based transport (perhaps you’re a florist?).
Electric
The e-Berlingo van is powered by a 54 kWh battery, introduced in 2023, which Citroen claims gives a range of up to 205 miles, with rapid charging from empty to 80% full in around 30 minutes. It’s an excellent option for short-distance deliveries, particularly in the growing number of cities with ultra-low emission zones — where it will save a fortune on fees — but for long motorway drives with heavy loads, this could be a challenging option.
Which trim level should I lease?
Once you’ve chosen what size panel van you need — there are two lengths, balancing payload and volume — you’ll then need to pick your trim. There are two main trims to choose from…

Highly recommended. Ian Perrow was extremely professional and always available to help.
The whole process with Select Car Leasing was really easy and smooth from start to finish. Ash Knight was our leasing consultant and he was excellent. He took the time to understand exactly what I was looking for and what my non-negotiables were. I had a shortlist of 3 or 4 cars and he provided me with prices for all of them, and then at the end suggested a different model as an alternative because it was on a great offer - that was the one I went with and I’m really happy with it. I would 100% recommend Select & Ash in the future.
First time using an online leasing agency and have been highly impressed. Simple process, quick online paperwork, friendly and helpful staff and quick delivery. And most importantly the cheapest price I could find.
