New Aehra SUV is ‘ultra premium’ rival to Tesla Model X

If you’re in the market for an ‘ultra premium’ electric SUV, you need to take note of the new Italian-American manufacturer ‘Aehra’.

Launched in June last year, Aehra is the brainchild of founder and CEO Hazim Nada, a theoretical physicist and global finance expert who was born in the US but grew up in the north of Italy.

Nada and the Aehra team are on a mission to disrupt the world of opulent, all-electric vehicles, targeting markets including North America and Europe, China.

And this is Aehra’s first car - a hyper-luxurious SUV that the firm hopes to start delivering to customers by 2025.

Let’s first take a look at the price tag - which could hover somewhere between £132,000 and £149,000. That’s considerably more than a range-topping Tesla Model X and also pricier than the new Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, so the Aehra will need to perform.

For your money you can tap into power of 815 PS, which gives the Aehra SUV a top speed of around 165 mph.

Away from the facts and figures, the Aehra SUV is all about offering a ‘class-leading interior space’ as well as state-of-the-art tech.

One of the SUV’s party pieces is a huge digital screen which, when the vehicle is parked, rises up from the dash to become an immersive home cinema.

Aehra Chief Design Officer Fillippo Perini says: “With the screen fully extended, the occupants can relax and enjoy a movie, perhaps when the car is charging or when a parent is waiting to pick up a child from school or a party.

“And for those who have work to do, the screen and the spacious interior afford the perfect solution for video conference calls. Instead of staring at your smartphone or laptop, you can sit back and not only see all the participants on the call in perfect high-definition clarity, but also listen to them with crystal-clear, pitch-perfect audio quality.”

The seats have been built to mirror those found in supercars and offer ‘exemplary support for drivers who wish to exploit the SUV’s prodigious performance and ultra-agile handling to the full’, says Aehra.

Meanwhile throughout the car there’s a ‘level of comfort normally the exclusive preserve of passengers travelling in first-class aircraft accommodation’.

And there’s more to come from Aehra. A Saloon is also promised to go along with the SUV, so watch this space for future updates.
